Below you can see that the average hourly earnings in 1984 was $8.48 (see the “Total Private” columns). In 1994, it was $11.32. Since 11.32/8.48 = 1.3349. 
So the hourly wage increased 33.49%. In 2004, average hourly earnings were $15.67. 15.67/11.32 = 1.3843. So the hourly wage increased 38.43%.
 
You can also see that the hourly earnings in construction in 2004 was $19.23.
